Picking's were slim this year on the NYSE Composite for new 52-week lows. After discarding all the funds, splits, new issues and other non-edibles, we were left with only two stocks. So we decided to make additional menu selections from the NASDAQ National Market as well and found ten more palatable choices.
Remember this Free Lunch, Bargain Stock Strategy is a relatively short-term trading strategy. We look for these stocks to outperform the NYSE and NASDAQ composite indices through February 15, 2002. These Bargain Stocks have beaten the NYSE composite by an average 8.2% advantage during this period since 1975.
So, don't hold these stocks too long. Use trailing stops on the way up to lock in profits and protect losses on pullbacks.
One House Keeping note: on page 6 of the January 2002 Stock Trader's Almanac Investor in the table the symbol "BBH" for B2B Internet Holders is incorrect. It should be "BHH"
